Get to know your over-the-counter (OTC) benefit

Many of our BlueAdvantage members get an allowance for OTC items. We want to help you get the most out of this benefit. So we've answered some of your most common questions about it here.

Am I eligible for the OTC benefit?
Where can I spend my OTC allowance?
Where you can spend your OTC allowance depends on your plan.
BlueAdvantage, BlueAdvantage Extra and BlueAdvantage Freedom members:
You can order online. Just click here to log in to or create your OTC account. Once you’ve signed up, you can shop online, request a print catalog or check your balance. Your items will be shipped right to your door.
You can also call in a catalog order by phone. Just contact 1-844-995-5834, TTY 711. You can speak to a live agent Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Please have your Member ID and order ready when calling.
BlueAdvantage Total Heart and Diabetes and BlueAdvantage Total Heart and Diabetes Plus members:
You can order online through your flex card account. Your items will be shipped right to your door.
You’ll also be able to order by phone. You can call 1-844-995-5834, TTY 711, to speak with a live agent. They’re open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Please have your Member ID, flex card and order ready when calling.
Total and Total Plus members will have other shopping options. To learn more, contact us. You can also find more details in your online flex card account.
Does my allowance roll over?
No, your allowance doesn’t roll over. So be sure to get the items you need by the end of each allowance period.
BlueAdvantage, BlueAdvantage Extra and BlueAdvantage Freedom members:
You get a quarterly allowance. That means your leftover funds will expire at the end of each quarter. Here are the important dates to remember:
Quarter 1: Jan. 1–March 31
Quarter 2: April 1–June 30
Quarter 3: July 1–Sept. 30
Quarter 4: Oct. 1–Dec. 31
BlueAdvantage Total Heart and Diabetes and BlueAdvantage Total Heart and Diabetes Plus members:
You get a monthly allowance. That means your leftover funds will expire at the end of each month.
Will I need to use a special card for this benefit?
BlueAdvantage, BlueAdvantage Extra and BlueAdvantage Freedom members:
No. You just need your BlueAdvantage, BlueAdvantage Extra or BlueAdvantage Freedom Member ID. If you’re shopping online, you’ll only have to enter your Member ID once — when you create your OTC account.
BlueAdvantage Total Heart and Diabetes and BlueAdvantage Total Heart and Diabetes Plus members:
Yes. Total and Total Plus members will get an easy-to-use flex card pre-loaded with a monthly allowance for OTC items and healthy food . This allowance will be reloaded at the start of each month. Unused funds from the previous month won’t roll over.
All BlueAdvantage members:
If your order total is more than your benefit balance, you can use another form of payment to pay the balance. Just add another form of payment when you check out.
Will I get an OTC catalog?
The best way to search for approved items is with your online account. There, you can easily see what's available, check your current balance, request a print catalog and place your order.

The My HealthPath® Wellness and Rewards Program lets you earn rewards for taking care of your health. You can earn gift cards for getting certain preventive screenings your doctor says you need.

What is My HealthPath?
How can I earn gift cards?
You can earn gift cards by getting certain screenings you may need. Your provider will send us the claim for your screenings. Once we process the claim, you’ll get your gift card within 12 weeks. You may be able to earn gift cards for these screenings:
Annual Wellness Visit
Health Needs Assessment
Colorectal cancer preventive screenings*
Breast cancer screenings*
Diabetic retinal eye exam*
*We encourage you to get your screenings as recommended by your provider. However, gift cards are only awarded as defined in the My HealthPath program. To earn a gift card, you must be enrolled in My HealthPath, be eligible for the incentive and get the service(s) within the calendar year. Gift card eligibility requirements and some restrictions may apply.
